Located in the Historic center of Alamos, this home when it was purchased twenty years ago, reflected a sweeping away of the past, replaced with modern elements such as: the use of modern-style tiled floors, a tennis court, a kidney-shaped swimming pool and a master bedroom with only a stairway from the courtyard.

The goal was to recreate rooms, reinvented and reborn, taking inspiration from the roots of Mexican architecture and design by instilling the fusion of styles of the colonial era… but with “a twist of modern”.

In the Entry way and Kitchen, a hand-painted border on the floors reflects the style of Talavera tile floors. In the living room and dining room, the use of color was to reinterpret the Mexican elements such as the red couches in the living room and hot pink, orange and burgandy pillows in the dining room.

Large wall hangings throughout the home reflect seventeen century tapestries.

The courtyard has been transformed with a fountain, majestic stairway, balconies off the master bedroom.

Set beside the pool, is the “Outdoor Room” tied together with the main rooms of the house with three large doors that duplicate the ones in the living room. Inside, the  spacious, high ceilings of the Outdoor Room  are  large ‘lounging couches” and two large, matching chests that create an “office” space and a chest for a TV.  It can be transformed from a room for lounging to a bedroom as includes a spacious bathroom with a shower.

A third bedroom with two queen bed is decorated with charming “painted” wallpaper…. and a large bathroom with a shower, sinks, toilet and lots of light from “frosted windows”.
